Services began January 15, 2004, with volunteer area dentists working with VCU dental and hygiene students two days per week. (For the two years previous, the Clinic had rented space at MCV for patients in critical need of oral surgery, and arranged for their transportation to Richmond.)

With a waiting list of 500, the overwhelming need was readily apparent.

Today, services are offered 3 ½ days per week out of a state-of-the-art facility. Digital dental equipment and practice management software were installed in 2013.
A staff dentist, volunteer dentists and VCU students provide the services.

The $1 million mark in dental care was reached in a little over two years of part-time operations. Through 2015, the Dental Clinic has hosted 30,811 patient visits and provided $18,502,934 in services.

Procedures are conducted Wednesdays through Fridays, and some Mondays.
